The creek that meanders through the resort has two unique bridges: The antique covered bridge spanning the creek is on the National Registry of Covered Bridges; the swinging bridge has a path that leads to the beautiful Wooden Nickel Winery and Saloon that boasts some of the finest homemade wine and beer in the Midwest.
The four ponds give fishermen a chance to go after channel catfish, bass, crappie, and bluegill.Bait is available at the resort.
The resort is situated 40 miles south of Springfield (state capital) and 60 miles north of St. Louis' Gateway Arch. The area is abundant with the lore and sites of Abraham Lincoln, including the new Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, which is an international attraction. Visit “Honest Abe’s” old home place, his tomb, and the New Salem State Park. Stay at the resort for awhile and friendly staff will direct you to many attractions that are state and national sites such as the original Rt. 66, built in 1926-1930.
